This is a free on-demand ride service available to Arrowleaf guests only during the time they are renting a unit.
The service area for Empire Express includes the city limits of Park City – and is great for getting around town to Main Street, to restaurants, bars and shopping, and the base areas of both Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort.

Winter service hours are in effect from mid-December through mid-April and are 7:00 am – Midnight.

The following rules & reminders for the service apply:

Rides are on demand only. The service does not accept reservations.
All vehicles are marked with Empire Pass logos.
Drivers can only wait 5 minutes during the pick-up process. Please have your party ready.
Drivers cannot accommodate multiple stops or waits for passengers going in and out of locations.
Wait times may be long during peak times, including holidays, Sundance and end-of-ski-day hours 3pm – 6:30pm. Please plan ahead as traffic congestion can be heavy at these times.
Empire Express does not provide service to Canyons Ski Area, Kimball Junction, Deer Crest, the Colony or Tuhaye.
This service has a no tipping policy.
This ride service is for Empire Pass owners and guests only. All others will be considered to be trespassing.

Lift Tickets for Deer Valley

To help you make the most of your ski vacation, Deer Valley limits the number of lift tickets sold each day – and during the holidays and busy periods the resort typically reaches capacity. We strongly recommend our guests pre-purchase tickets online to guarantee access.

There is a self service ticket printing kiosk located at the base of the Silver Strike lift, just down the slope from Arrowleaf. This can be accessed on skis or by walking from the condo.

CONDO INFORMATION

Please remember smoking is not permitted in the condo, on the deck or anywhere in the building.
We also ask that you do NOT wear ski boots or heavy / wet shoes and boots in the condo – please leave these items in the ski locker.

Housekeeping:

The condo is stocked with towels, linens, housekeeping items and amenities.
Housekeeping will clean the condo and change all linens upon your departure.
Mid-week housekeeping service can be arranged for an extra charge. Please contact John Spencer at 435-659-6246.

Ski Locker:

The ski locker is located in the locker room on level P.
The locker has boot driers and ample room for storing your skis and boots.
Please do NOT bring skis or boots upstairs into the condo.

Internet/WiFi:

The condo has wireless internet access – log onto ‘Unit 414b’ – password is ‘saltlake’

TV / AV:

There are TV’s in all the rooms, DVD players in the master bedroom and living room, and an iPhone docking station in the living room. Instructions for their operation follow in the next section.

Coffee:

There is a coffee bar located in the lobby on Level 1 – available 24/7
The coffee maker is on the kitchen counter and there is a grinder in the cabinet above if you wish to use fresh coffee beans.

Fireplace:

Gas log fire in living room – switch is on the wall to left of fireplace – it’s automatic but takes a minute or two to fire up.

Patio:

Patio door – to open just turn lock button to right. To lock, lift up handle and turn lock button to left.
Outdoor chair cushions are stored in the hallway closet.

BBQ Grill:

Natural gas BBQ grill is on the patio.
To light, follow the instructions printed on the grill. If it doesn’t ignite automatically on High, turn gas down to 2.

Heating/AC Thermostats:

We have installed Nest thermostats for your convenience.
Note that the Arrowleaf HVAC system is based on chilled water, not CFCs that can be harmful to the atmosphere. As such, the air coming from the vents will be cool or warm, not hot or cold, depending on the demands of the unit.
Occasionally in winter, the heat coming from the units below and the solar gain through the east window can overwhelm the cooling system and strange as it may seem, you may not be able to reach cooler temperatures required for comfortable sleeping. In this case, we suggest cracking the windows in the bedrooms or leaving the patio door ajar.

Lighting:

Table lamp by sofa in living room is on a wall switch in the hallway.
The bedside lights in both bedrooms are also operated by wall switches next to the door.

Master Bath Spa:

Spa tub in master bathroom – fill tub to cover all jets before turning on.

Outdoor Spa & Firepit:

Condo door key will open the gate to the outdoor spa.
Use code 873238# re-enter building through the sliding door on Level 1.

Trash:

Trash disposal is in the garage on level 1 – please separate out glass for recycling.

Parking:

Arrowleaf B lodge has parking garages on two levels – you can park in either one.
The main garage is on lower level “P” off the circular driveway – the smaller one is on level “1”.

DVD’s

DVD’s are stored in the hallway closet above the DVD player.

Pool Table and Shuffleboard

These are located in the lobby of Arrowleaf A, the building next door. Use access code 873238# to enter through the front door.

WINTER

Skiing / Snowboarding:

Walk out of the back door, step into your skis and you’re ready for the six areas that make up Deer Valley ski resort. Remember too, you’re already half way up the mountain ahead of the crowd on those epic power days!
Deer Valley does not allow snowboarding – but nearby Park City Mountain Resort does.

Snowshoeing / Cross-country Skiing

White Pine Touring is a retailer / guiding service for snowshoeing and cross country skiing (mountain biking, hiking and climbing in the Summer). SUMMER/FALL

Hiking:

You can hike from right outside the door up the ski trails. The Mid-Mountain Trail runs just above the condo and will take you over to the Silver Lake area – or all the way to Canyons Resort.
Hiking up at Guardsmans Pass is spectacular and there are many other places in the area to go – we recommend checking with the Visitors Center for maps.

Fly Fishing:

World-class fly fishing is available on the Provo and Weber rivers and we highly recommend contacting Doug Askelson at 801-910-6877. He’s a great guy and a wonderful fishing guide! He’ll be able to organize everything you need for your fishing trip, including gear, licenses, lunch, etc.
Trout Bum 2 is a great fishing store located on Hwy 224 between Canyons Resort and Kimball Junction. They can also arrange for guides and all necessary fishing gear.

Mountain Biking:

Bikes are available for daily rentals with all the gear from Jans, Coles or White Pine Touring in Park City.
Rentals are also available at Snow Park and Silver Lake in Deer Valley with access to the lifts to higher trails.

Scenic Driving:

We recommend a drive up to Guardsmans Pass - to do this take Marsac Street up the mountain from the condo – the road has many bends and becomes pretty narrow once you’re over the top – but the views are spectacular! (Closed in Winter)
The drive from the top down into Midway / Heber City is also spectacular – again it’s a narrow, twisting road.
Big Cottonwood Canyon is beautiful. From Guardsmans Pass you drop down into Big Cottonwood and drive through Solitude – the scenery is lovely and there are great hikes off the road. The road through the canyon takes you down into the Salt Lake City Valley where you join up with Highway 15. (Access in Winter is only from Salt Lake City)
Little Cottonwood Canyon, where Snowbird and Alta are located, is to the south of Big Cottonwood. You have to access this canyon from the Salt Lake City Valley.
We also recommend a drive to Sundance (about an hour away) – it’s a spectacular place and there are some great hikes – both gentle and more strenuous. If the lifts are running take a ride up and walk down – trail maps and all the details are available at the base station. Foundry Grill serves a great brunch on Sundays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm and is also open for dinner. Phone numbers are: 866-932-2295 or 877-831-6224. A BRIEF HISTORY OF PARK CITY, UTAH

This town has a really interesting, colorful history and mining heritage! We highly recommend a visit to the Park City Museum located at 518 Main Street.

1868

In late October, soldiers climb over the mountains of Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Park City area and find silver. They mark the spot with a bandana and return in the spring. The first mine is named Flagstaff.

1870

Parley’s Park City (now Park City) has a total population of 164.

1872

The discovery of exceedingly rich silver ore leads to the opening of the Ontario Mine.

1880

The Park Record rolls off the press. Published ever since, the newspaper comes out on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

1884

Park City is incorporated - construction begins on City Hall and is completed in 1885.

1898

Park City approaches a population of 10,000. In June, 200 of the 350 structures, homes and businesses burn in the worst fire Park City has ever seen. Three quarters of the town is destroyed.

1899

The town is rebuilt in one and a half years. The buildings are more substantial – many are built of brick and stone to withstand fire. The saloon is the first building to be constructed.

1917

The prohibition of liquor called “The Noble Experiment” begins in Utah, two years before the rest of the nation. Bootleggers abound, and stills and home brewing are popular.

1920

Skiing becomes a pastime of workers who take the mine train to the top of Thaynes Canyon and then ski down to the bottom of the mountain.

1921

Despite prohibition, there are 27 bars in Park City. A thirsty soul can buy a drink in all but one of them. Prohibition continues through 1932.

1930

A ski jump is built on the Creole mine dump. Downhill skiing is mostly a spectator sport.

1946

The first ski lift is installed at Snow Park. Mining prices continue on a downward trend.

1949

On July 1 the mines are shut down, putting 1,200 miners out of work.

1951

Park City is included in a book called Ghost Towns of the West which indicates no population in spite of the town’s 1,150 year round residents! Desperate to revive the town’s economy, members of the mining community turn their efforts to the interest in the West and skiing, and work on a proposal to create a ski resort.

1963

Park City ski resort opens.

1980

Deer Valley Ski Resort opens.

1981

The United States Film & Video Festival, highlighting independent films, opens their first season. The Sundance Institute takes over in 1985.

1991

The Festival is finally billed “The Sundance Film Festival” which takes place annually in January.

2002

The Winter Olympics are held in Salt Lake City, with many events in Park City.

2010

Park City and the surrounding area now has a full-time population of over 20,000 – and welcomes more than three million visitors annually.
