Welcome to our home!

We are excited for you to stay with us and hope that you enjoy our house, and all that Park City has to offer.

Unit 11 is our full-time home, except when we are fortunate enough to host wonderful guests such as yourself. While you are here, we are either off chasing powder to ski different resorts or working remotely from a warm, sunny location. Since this is our only residence, we ask that you treat it with care and kindness.

Larry Schott with Red Sky Resorts can also answer questions or respond to anything you may need. We are a team and each of us would like to do what it takes to make sure your stay in our home exceeds your expectations.

Feel free to use what’s left in the refrigerator. We’ve asked our crew to remove any half-eaten food, but to leave anything that would be useable for guests, such as condiments and spices. Guests seem to love this, and we are happy to share.

Home Instructions

Home Entry/Exit

There is a keypad entry for the Portico Building garage double doors with a code that will be sent to you upon arrival.

Our unit comes with two designated parking spaces in covered garage. Please park in the spots labeled “11”.

The garage doors are programmed to automatically close after five minutes if no one walks by the sensors.

We have an entrance into our townhouse from the garage between the two designated parking spaces. There is a keypad on the garage entrance door and that code will also be sent to you upon arrival.

On the main level is the front door and entrance, and it has a coded keypad as well, and uses the same code as the garage entrance door.

Please remove all outdoor shoes before entering the house whether you are entering from the garage or the front door. The salt on the roads, sidewalks and garages will destroy the floors.

No ski boots are allowed in the house, except in the mudroom.

Smoking

There is absolutely no smoking or vaping in our home.

If you smoke outside, please do not throw cigarette butts on the ground, or in the grass or snow, or leave them out on any wood as it might leave a burn mark. Worse yet, a stray ember could start a fire since we are living in a drought, despite all the snow.

Ski & Snowboard Storage

The racks in the mudroom on the garage level are available to store your skis, snowboards, and poles. You may use the blue cubbies and hooks to store your clothing and gear, and please use the shoe racks and shoe trays to leave your outdoor shoes and ski/snowboard boots.

Hot Tub/Spa

The hot tub stays warm and ready for your enjoyment. It holds three humans quite nicely.

Opening and closing the cover takes a bit of nuance. To open, flip the first half of the cover over and then slide, horizontally, the lid back to rest on the three bars on the back of the hot tub.

To close the cover, please do not pull on the little pads. They will tear and a new cover is expensive to replace (sadly we know this from experience). Please pull the center seam of the cover or lift the entire cover up and pull forward. It will slide back onto the tub and then you can close it completely.

If the tub overflows and the water level is too low, the heater will not work. There is a hose next to the grill to add more if needed.

After each use, please put in one-half to one scoop of chlorine after each use. The chlorine is in the white tub on the floor next to the hot tub steps. This will keep the water clean and safe for your enjoyment.

Feel free to use the spa towels in basket in the living room for drying off, or the regular white bath towels in the bathrooms.

Thermostats

The main floor thermostat is on the wall on the left side of the fireplace. The thermostat inside the primary bedroom controls heating for that floor and the third (upper) floor.

Simply tap the screen and adjust the temperature as desired. They are both automatically programmed to turn down to a lower temperate for sleep around 9 PM, but you can change that as desired.

Coffee Pots

The Cuisinart coffee pot is both a 12-cup drip and single serve brewer. Here is a quick reference guide, or review in the notebook.

Drinking Water Filter

The small faucet on the kitchen sink is for reverse osmosis filtered (RO) water. The refrigerator water and ice is also reverse osmosis filtered.

InstaPot

Our large capacity InstaPot is on the floor of the coat closet which is to the right of the front door.

BBQ Grill

We have a propane grill for your use on the patio. Please be sure to turn the gas off from the tank when finished cooking. Once the grill has cooled off, please cover it back up.

Televisions

The family room and primary bedroom TVs have Apple TVs. Press the upper right-hand button of the black Apple remote (has a little screen on it), to turn on the TV and sound system. Press the “Menu” button (upper left-hand button) to choose a streaming service. We have YouTube television for live TV streaming. Feel free to log into any app with your own log in.

To turn off the TV, press upper right-hand button and then press “sleep” when the menu pops up (or ask your kids how to do it, that is what we do!).

The family room TV is on an articulating wall mount and can be pulled down for more convenient viewing. Use the handles to pull it down and put it back up when done. Please do not light the fire when the TV is down.

The TV in the guest room upstairs is a smart TV. It is connected to the internet. It has streaming apps, simply log in with your own id.

Sound System

The family room television sound bar can be used for music. If you use Spotify, you can log in through the Apple TV app and stream from your phone or computer.

You may also connect via AirPlay to the either the family room or the master bedroom Apple TVs, and they are labeled accordingly.

Alternately, you can connect directly to the family room JBL sound bar. To connect, press and hold the Bluetooth icon on the JBL remote after powering it on.

Automated Blinds

The window blinds on the main floor are automated. The Hunter Douglas remote control is on the kitchen wall above the light switch. The easiest way to open or close the blinds is to press “All” followed by “Open” or “Close”.

Main Floor Fireplace

The fireplace operates via the remote control that is on the wall to the right side of the fireplace, above the light switches. Tap the screen, and instructions will appear. Choose “Turn Flame ON”. The following screen has options, best is to choose “Flame Height” which range from 1 to 5. The room heats up quickly from the higher flame heights, which in turn will make the primary bedroom warm. If you like a colder room for sleeping, you can keep it cooler with the door closed when the fireplace is operating.

Sleeper Sofa

The bedding, pillows, mattress pad, sheets, and blankets, are inside the two gray zippered containers in the coat closet, to the left of the front door. You’ll need to move the coffee table in order to pull out the bed. We tend to put the coffee table right in front of the fireplace or on the downstairs landing to the left of the fireplace.

Ceiling Fans

Living Room:

The ceiling fan for the living room operates via the remote control which is on the wall to the right of the fireplace, above the light switches. First flip the bottom light switch, then make your choices from the remote control. The top two round buttons operate the light, turning it brighter or dimmer. The bottom operates the ceiling fan, with the square icon turns it off. It often magically turns on without interaction, which we believe is interference from another units similar RF operated light or fan.

Primary Bedroom:

The ceiling fan for the primary bedroom operates via remote control on the wall to the right of the light switch. Flip the right light switch, then press the light icon on top to turn on the light, or the fan icon for the fan. Change the fan speed via the up or down triangle button on either side of the fan button.

Trash and Recycling

There are dumpsters inside the building garage to the left of the double garage doors. The brighter blue dumpster on the left is for recycling (no glass) and the older, darker, rustier dumpster on the right is for trash.

In the kitchen trashcan, we use the left hand compartment for recycling and the right hand bin for trash.

Laundry

The washer and dryer are conveniently located in the primary bathroom and fully stocked with laundry essentials. If the washing machine does not have power, or loses power, reset the GFI that is outside the primary bathroom door, just to the right of the door on the wall.

First Aid Kit

A First Aid kit is in the mudroom on the shelving unit. We hope you don’t need it!

Fly Fishing

World-class fly fishing is available on the Provo and Weber rivers and we highly recommend contacting Doug Askelson at 801-910-6877. He’s a great guy and a wonderful fishing guide! He’ll be able to organize everything you need for your fishing trip, including gear, licenses, lunch, etc.

Trout Bum 2 is a great fishing store located on Hwy 224 between Canyons Resort and Kimball Junction. They can also arrange for guides and all necessary fishing gear.

Mountain Biking

Bikes are available for daily rentals with all the gear from Jans, Coles or White Pine Touring in Park City.

Rentals are also available at Snow Park and Silver Lake in Deer Valley with access to the lifts to higher trails. Be warned, if you take the lift up, there are no beginner biking trails down – it’s intermediate or above!

Golf

Scenic Driving

We recommend a drive up to Guardsmans Pass – the road has many bends and becomes pretty narrow once you’re over the top – but the views are spectacular! (Closed in Winter)
The drive from the top down into Midway / Heber City is also spectacular – again it’s a narrow, twisting road.
Big Cottonwood Canyon is beautiful. From Guardsmans Pass, you drop down into Big Cottonwood and drive through Solitude – the scenery is lovely and there are great hikes off the road. The road through the canyon takes you down into the Salt Lake City Valley where you join up with Highway 15. (Access in Winter is only from Salt Lake City)
Little Cottonwood Canyon, where Snowbird and Alta are located, is to the south of Big Cottonwood. You have to access this canyon from the Salt Lake City Valley.
We also recommend a drive to Sundance (about an hour away) – it’s a spectacular place and there are some great hikes – both gentle and more strenuous. If the lifts are running, take a ride up and walk down – trail maps and all the details are available at the base station.
